The year has rushed by, and now, with only a few more weeks left, it has us reminiscing on the top trends that impacted the homebuilding industry in 2023. A recent article by award-winning author and wellness design consultant Jamie Gold spotlights industry leaders’ insights on current homebuilding trends and future trends for 2024.

Among these experts is our very own Head of People, Marketing and Products, Anne Murray. One area she touched on is the importance of builders having an eco-conscious design approach to their new homes.

Two big areas that we see our builders focus on in bathrooms are lighting options and water management solutions. Many of our builders are focusing on nature-meets-luxury, with upscale natural materials and treatments.”

Anne also stressed the significance of offering home shoppers a kitchen design and space that caters to their family lifestyle.

Home shoppers are envisioning a lifestyle where children, families and friends are all in the kitchen enjoying cooking together. The space and layout flexibility in new-construction homes has been important to facilitate that.”

Popular design features were not the only homebuilding trends she gave her perspective on; Anne also discussed the real estate market. She noted that the increased interest rates have caused fewer resale homes to flood the market and more opportunities for new home sales.
